About Hamza Yassin

In 2022, Hamza became a household name when he won BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside his professional partner Jowita Przystal. Lifting the glitterball trophy was a testament not only to his talent but also to his warm, engaging personality that has resonated with audiences throughout his career.

Hamza’s television career began on The One Show as a wildlife cameraman, quickly gaining recognition for his presenting skills. He is now widely known as Ranger Hamza on the CBeebies series Let’s Go For A Walk and Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest, introducing young viewers to the wonders of nature. He is also a regular presenter on Countryfile and Animal Park, sharing his vast wildlife knowledge.

In 2021, Hamza was the subject of the Channel 4 documentary Scotland: My Life in the Wild, where he showcased his life in the Scottish Highlands, offering viewers a personal glimpse into his connection with nature. In Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness, he led celebrity guests on immersive wildlife adventures across Scotland. Most recently, Hamza presented Hamza: Strictly Birds of Prey, a BBC One documentary that highlighted his passion for birds of prey, earning rave reviews and over 3.8 million viewers.

Wildlife Photography and Filming

Hamza is a highly skilled wildlife photographer and cameraman, contributing to renowned nature documentaries such as Springwatch, The Hunt (narrated by Sir David Attenborough), and Sky’s Predators. His work on Wild Isles, which explores British wildlife, includes stunning eagle footage captured around his home in Scotland. Qualifications and Books

Hamza holds a Master’s Degree in Biological Imaging and Photography and a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology with Conservation. As an avid birder and ornithologist, he has extensive field craft and habitat knowledge, which he shares with his audiences and clients as a wildlife tour guide.

In 2023, Hamza published his first book, Be a Birder: The Joy of Birdwatching and How to Get Started, offering tips, stories, and insights to inspire readers to take up birdwatching and explore the wonders of nature.
