About Gordon Buchanan
For more than seventeen years, Gordon has travelled across the globe filming wildlife in some of the planet’s harshest and most dangerous locations, capturing the behaviour of animals ranging from polar bears and big cats to rare and endangered species. His work behind the camera has established him as one of the UK’s most respected wildlife filmmakers, while his natural presenting style has made him a familiar face on television.
Alongside his filming work, Gordon has fronted numerous acclaimed BBC productions including Leopard Hunters, Wild Scotland, Wild West Country, The Bear Family and Me, Tribes, Predators and Me, Life in Polar Bear Town, Equator from the Air, Life in the Snow and Super Cute Animals. His presenting work on The Bear Family and Me earned him a Royal Television Society Award.
As a live speaker, Gordon combines humour, warmth and extraordinary storytelling to share insights into wildlife, conservation, adventure and resilience. His talks explore not only the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world, but also the lessons learned from working in challenging environments where patience, preparation and trust are essential. His recent live tour, Lions, Tigers and Bears, further showcased his ability to entertain and engage audiences with stories from behind the camera.
Gordon is also a Patron of the Environmental Justice Foundation and was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society in recognition of his contribution to geography and conservation. In 2020 he was awarded an MBE for services to charity and wildlife conservation.
