Hannah Fry is a Professor at UCL, specialising in human behaviour patterns. She's a mathematician, best-selling author, and award-winning science presenter. Known for her TV series "The Future with Hannah Fry" and "The Secret Genius of Modern Life," she also writes for the New Yorker and creates popular educational content.

About Hannah Fry

Hannah Fry is a Professor in the Mathematics of Cities at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at UCL, where she studies patterns in human behavior. Her research addresses a wide range of social issues, from shopping and transport to urban crime, riots, and terrorism. A mathematician, best-selling author, award-winning science presenter, and host of numerous popular podcasts and television shows, Hannah has a talent for making complex ideas accessible and engaging.

In 2023, Hannah’s series “The Future with Hannah Fry” launched on Bloomberg, bringing her signature intellectual heft and insight, combined with her inimitable wit, to American audiences. The series explores our collective future, examining breakthroughs in science and technology that will transform our lives and society, emphasizing a participatory approach to change.

Her BBC Two documentary series “The Secret Genius of Modern Life” received critical acclaim, uncovering the extraordinary secrets behind everyday technologies such as bank cards, trainers, electric cars, and fitness trackers. Due to its success, the series has been renewed for a second season, set to air in Autumn 2023.

Hannah’s previous documentaries include “City in the Sky,” “Magic Numbers,” “The Joy of Winning,” “The Joy of Data,” “Unvaccinated,” “Making Sense of Cancer” (Grierson Award-nominated for Best Presenter), and the 2018 film “Contagion – The BBC Pandemic.” The latter was a significant citizen science experiment simulating the impact of a deadly pandemic in the UK, a full two years before the COVID-19 pandemic.

An accomplished writer, Hannah regularly contributes to the New Yorker, and her book “Hello World – How to be Human in the Age of the Machine” was shortlisted for several prestigious non-fiction awards, winning the 2020 Asimov Prize. Through her engaging videos on the Numberphile YouTube channel, her insightful podcasts with DeepMind, and her long-running radio series “The Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry,” Hannah is renowned worldwide for her joyful ability to bring mathematical concepts to life for audiences of all interests and abilities.
