About Marita Cheng

Marita Cheng is the youngest Member of the Order of Australia in 2019. She is a leading technology entrepreneur and women in tech advocate. Recognized by Forbes as one of the World’s Top 50 Women In Tech 2018 and Young Australian of the Year 2012, she founded and leads Aubot, known for its telepresence robot, Teleport, which aids kids with cancer, people with disabilities, and the elderly. Aubot also explores robotic arms, virtual reality, and autonomous mapping.

Marita co-founded Aipoly, an app aiding the visually impaired, during her time at Singularity University’s program at NASA Ames. She gained prominence as the Founder of Robogals, which has inspired 100,000 girls across 11 countries to explore engineering through robotics workshops.

A frequent speaker, Marita has presented at prestigious events like the World Entrepreneurship Forum and MIT Technology Review EmTech Singapore. Born in Cairns, Queensland, she excelled academically, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) / Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Melbourne. Marita serves on various boards and enjoys reading, traveling, and daydreaming in her spare time. She speaks English, Cantonese, and Japanese.
