About Derek Herbert

Theatres where Derek has played his ukulele banjo and sung include Leeds City Varieties, Blackpool Opera House, Liverpool Empire and Philharmonic Hall. Derek has performed as Winston Churchill—a character he has honed to impersonate uncannily—at many venues associated with the great statesman, including the Churchill War Rooms, Bletchley Park, Blenheim Palace, Chartwell House, Western Approaches HQ Museum, Battle of Britain Bunker and Cliveden House.

Television performances include appearances in various “soap operas”, and Derek has portrayed Winston Churchill in Hustle and in Director/Producer Steven Poliakoff’s dramas Close to the Enemy and Summer of Rockets.

Films in which Derek portrays Winston Churchill include the multi-award-winning and BAFTA-nominated independent Gryffyn Productions film Lawrence After Arabia and the multi-award-winning short drama film Enemy of the Heart.
