About Sheila Ferguson

Sheila Ferguson is best known as a member of soul singing trio The Three Degrees (from 1966-1986). She sang lead vocals on all their hits during their most successful period in the 1970s. She has now forged a prolific stage and screen career in the UK, starring in numerous musicals, soul legend tours, and her own sitcom ‘Land of Hope and Gloria’.

Biography

Sheila has chatted with Des O’Connor, Terry Wogan, and Michael Parkinson in the UK and appeared with US TV legends such as Johnny Carson and Redd Foxx in ‘Sandford and Son’, as well as displaying her guts and resilience as a castaway in the top rated ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ show.  She has also more than held her own on cutting edge comedy shows like ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ and youth shows such as ‘Dick and Dom’ on CBeebies.  Sheila’s sitcom ‘Land of Hope and Gloria’ was the first to star a black female lead in UK.

Sheila‘s West End performances include ‘Always’, ‘Soul Train’, ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ and the internationally successful touring show ‘Oh! What a Night’ and her first solo album ‘A New Kind of Medicine’ won rave reviews in the national press.  She has been active in the Music Industry as a director of PAMRA, has also been a judge at the RIMA (Race in the Media Awards) and is a patron of the National Parenting Charity, Parentalk.
