About Ed Newton-Rex

Ed Newton-Rex is a globally recognised entrepreneur, technologist, and composer, celebrated for his groundbreaking work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and music. He founded Jukedeck, the world’s first AI-driven music composition startup, which revolutionised how music is created by enabling non-musicians to generate rights-cleared tracks in seconds. The company’s pioneering technology, which produced over a million pieces of music for videos, ads, podcasts, and games, won multiple awards, including the prestigious Cannes Innovation Lion, before being acquired by ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, in 2019.

Following the acquisition, Ed led TikTok’s AI Lab in London and went on to become Product Director for Europe at TikTok. Today, he is at the forefront of the next wave of music and technology innovation as Head of Product for Voisey at Snapchat, where he continues to shape the future of digital creativity.

A Double-Starred First graduate in Music from Cambridge University, Ed taught himself to code to build Jukedeck’s early AI technology, combining his expertise as a classically trained composer with cutting-edge software development. His compositions have been published by Boosey & Hawkes and Novello, and performed by ensembles including the King’s Singers and the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge.

Named one of Business Insider’s 30 Most Creative People in UK Tech, and recognised among 20:40’s Leaders of the Future, Ed is a sought-after speaker on AI, creativity, and digital transformation. He has delivered keynotes at major conferences such as TEDx, Mobile World Congress, and Slush, served as a judge for the International AI Song Contest, and regularly appears in media outlets including the BBC to discuss the evolving relationship between AI and the arts.

With a dynamic, engaging style and a mix of humour and deep expertise, Ed Newton-Rex inspires audiences to embrace the creative potential of emerging technologies. His talks explore the future of AI, social media, and digital innovation, offering invaluable insights into the exciting frontiers where technology and the arts converge.
