What does Keynote actually mean

The word keynote is understood to have evolved from the practice of a cappella, such as doo-wop or barbershop singers. Each playing a note before singing. The note played determines the key in which the song will be performed. Hence a keynote speaker is a person who delivers a speech which sets out the underlying theme of the event or conference agenda. They are usually booked to open and close morning and/or afternoon sessions at events.

A great keynote speaker is always highly regarded in his or her field. Usually from the corporate arena they may also may have achieved recognition due to other accomplishments. For example a sporting great. They always prove to be a great draw and always raise the enthusiasm levels among the event attendees.Telling the audience something it doesn't already know or hasn't already thought about they capture the theme of the event. And cleverly they weave the keynote message into their presentation.

After Dinner Entertainment - Speakers and Comedians

Our after dinner speakers are also highly skilled at entertaining, informing and keeping the attention of their audiences. They are the speakers, comedians and entertainers who succeed despite an often protracted dinner and an excess of wine. 

Speaking after dinner doesn’t necessarily mean the speaker has to be a comedian. An amusing industry great, a famous entrepreneur or a celebrity raconteur sharing hilarious stories as opposed to jokes is just as good.
