Inspired by the adventures of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Edward 'Lawrence of Arabia’ after flicking though a faded selection of black and white images, autodidact Ripley Davenport has trekked through deserts and been exposed to some of the harshest living conditions on the planet for over a decade. Ripley’s story of dedication, disappointment, radical changes and pride appeals to audiences of all ages.

Ripley’s fascination with the desert started when he found a battered, dog-eared copy of the adventures of 'Lawrence of Arabia' many years ago. Ripley is driven by awe of the dangerous, arid vistas dotted around the world. His latest projects include exploring self sufficient long distance open water swimming. Ripley’s journey of self-discovery and perseverance has defined the individual he is today and he draws on his experience to motivate and inspire others to achieve their potential. His presentations are shrouded in a package of humour and reflective personal insight, dealing candidly with the hardship of the journey and how it has affected him, and his family to audiences around the globe. In 2011 he was honoured with Fellowship at the Royal Geographical Society. Audiences include P&O Cruises, Rotarians, and many schools.
