Kaye Adams has had a career which has taken her from the Iron Lady to Loose Women and further with a host of interesting diversions in-between, including the dubious honour of co-presenting the last ever This Morning before Richard and Judy took their leave. In 2004, she was invited again by This Morning to be their daily live anchor from Australia, reporting on ‘I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’.
In 2004 she hosted the 8th series of Loose Women, ITV's ever popular daytime show, starring alongside regulars Sherrie Hewson, Jane McDonald and Carol McGiffin. Kaye left Loose Women in 2007 and became a regular panelist and guest host on C5’s The Wright Stuff amongst other guest appearances for both TV and radio. With the launch of ‘Call Kaye’ on BBC Scotland she has scaled back her work on The Wright Stuff to focus on her own radio show. Consisting of a mixture of phone-ins and interviews where no subject remains unexplored, Kaye thrives on It's live, topical, unpredictable nature which involves a considerable amount of 'make it up as you go along'. The format allows her to do what she does best, pulling the strings, and gives her sharp wit free rein. Her background though is a good deal weightier.
Kaye started out as a graduate trainee at Central (Carlton) Television concentrating on political and news journalism. She chalked up her first major coup shortly after joining the company by securing an hour-long TV interview with Margaret Thatcher, the then Prime Minister. Kaye was one of the first journalists on the scene of the Lockerbie bombing disaster in 1988 and was also the narrator for the documentary, ‘The Lockerbie Bomber: Sent Home to Die’ in August 2010. For the next few years, Kaye remained focused on hard news but a chance opportunity to host a discussion show for Scottish Television set her off on a different path. The show, Scottish Women, ran for six years, won a number of Awards and still ranks as one of the most successful STV has ever produced. It also marked the start of Kaye's career as a talk show host.
Since then, she has presented ITV Weekend Live (ITV network), three series of ‘Central Weekend Live’ with Nicky Campbell and John Stapleton, Kaye, a network show for BBC2, Esther, also BBC2 and ‘Pride and Prejudice’ for BBC1 Scotland. As well as being a skilled host, Kaye is recognized as a talented and perceptive one-to-one interviewer. She presented two series of ‘It's Your Funeral’ for Channel Five conducting half-hour interviews with the likes of Germaine Greer, Brian Blessed and Sarah Mills. She has also guested as an interviewer for BBC1's ‘Heaven and Earth Show’, appeared on BBC 1's flagship political debate show ‘Question Time’ and on ‘Have I Got News For You’.
Although Kaye enjoys the cut and thrust of live discussion and interview situations, she is equally comfortable in other TV formats. She hosted 104 episodes of ‘The People Versus’, produced by Celador for ITV and found it very enjoyable. She was a regular contributor to 4x4, BBC1's current affairs strand and has also managed to indulge her twin passions of design and motoring by presenting ‘The Home Show’ and ‘Wheelnuts’ for Scottish Television. She writes a weekly column for ‘The Daily Record’ and has recently been overseeing the production of a six part series which she pitched to Scottish Television as an original idea. Off-screen, Kaye is very much in demand on the corporate event circuit. Because of her extensive experience of handling live and unpredictable situations, she is the ideal facilitator for conferences as well as video presentation. She has an ability to quickly pick up complicated briefs and communicate messages to an audience in a personable but informed manner.
