Melbourne-born James graduated law school at Monash University, and was set to become a lawyer, until he abandoned his pursuits for a life traveling the globe and a media career. In London he started working for Sky News and Intelligence Squared, an organization that stages debates around the world.
He then joined CNN in 2010 and the "Quest Means Business" team, soon becoming the show producer of the network’s flagship "CNN Business Traveller” program.
In 2014, CNN transferred him to the New York bureau, where he took on the role of hosting the network’s new luxury travel programme ‘In 24 Hours’. The show saw him taking his audience on a quest for new and exciting high-end travel experiences in vibrant cities around the globe. He had managed to stumble upon that rare ‘dream job’ and set out to make the most of it.
His travels took him to all corners of the globe. Undergoing cosmonaut training outside Moscow, diving with great white sharks off the coast of Africa, sailing racing yachts around Sydney harbour, exploring the inside of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, climbing a smouldering volcano in New Zealand, driving supercars around the Italian Formula One grand prix track and watching the Armani fashion week show from the front row - to name just a tiny few. In his years with CNN, there’s just about nowhere he hasn’t been, and nothing he hasn’t done.
James graduated from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, gaining an LLB in Law and a BA Arts, majoring in media studies. He has lived in France, the UK, and the U.S, and James’s hobbies include reading politics, theatre, design and of course - travelling.
