Angela Lamont is a very bright, entertaining and personable speaker with an intelligent (she’s a member of MENSA), but friendly and engaging approach. An IT graduate with a business background, Angela designed computer systems for several companies including IBM before being approached to present the prestigious Faraday Lectures. Having toured the UK and Ireland for almost a year with the science lecture series she was approached by the BBC to present several science programmes on both television and radio.
She is particularly passionate about encouraging people of all ages to embrace the web and one of her speeches covers this in an informative and whimsical way.
She has presented in all situations, from crowds of thousands at the NEC, the Barbican and Olympia, to a select few at Buckingham Palace. Perhaps the most telling aspect of Angela’s work is the amount of clients who ask her back time after time and the amount of “one-off” projects that have been re-commissioned for years.
It’ll never work? [BBC 1] (on air for six years) this was a quirky science-comedy programme ranging from the serious to the ridiculous. It started as a one-off series but was still going six years later, pulling in an audience of up to 4.5 million. It won a BAFTA, two RTS awards and two Prix Jeunesse, plus awards in Australia & Bratislava. A great asset for the BBC, this programme has now been sold worldwide.
The Physical World - An Open University production for BBC2’s Learning Zone.
Science Fix [BBC Knowledge] A 24-part series exploring ‘everything you ever wanted to know about science but were afraid to ask’ The Fragile Planet [Channel 5] This was a ten part ecology series
Angela also has extensive experience in Radio, including:- The Network [BBC Radio 4] (on air for six years) A techno-cultural programme based predominantly around IT and how the internet affects our culture and how our culture affects the internet. Ground Control [BBC Radio 4] A programme that followed large engineering projects such as The Eden Project from start to finish. The Fountain of Youth [Radio 5 Live] Exploring the measures some people will go to, to slow, halt or reverse the aging process. The Acid Test [BBC Radio 5 Live] A weekly magazine programme looking at the latest in the world of science and technology.
Her flawless ‘live’ presentation skills and her experiences having worked with a wide range of Blue Chip Companies makes her a wise choice for Conferences, Forums. Seminars and Awards.
